Dispach

Dispach is an open-source, model-agnostic agent runtime I co-created with Sajib Hossain. It turns compatible model endpoints into persistent agents with tools, memory, schedules, messaging channels, and delegation. Our published research uses the deployed runtime to study and enforce what agents may change about their own limits.

What May an Agent Change About Itself? A Containment Floor for Self-Configuring Agent Runtimes

Without protection, a frontier model saved a protected change on 25 of 72 ordinary requests. The containment floor saved 0 of 167 protected writes across both evaluated models.

The thinking behind the work

Containment belongs in the runtime

A field-level containment floor lets agents change capabilities while preventing them from changing scope and gate fields. The rule is enforced where configuration is written, rather than relying on prompt instructions.

Memory without another service

SQLite FTS5 provides searchable memory without an embedding service or network dependency in the memory path. Context compaction is progressive and managed by the runtime.

A turn outlives its connection

Generation is detached from the client connection. A browser can reconnect to a turn by its ID instead of losing the work on refresh.
